So a couple of things that I have on my desk that help me get through the day are a couple of macro pads. The first is a Elgato Stream Deck at the top of my keyboard. This allows me to have multiple keystrokes and macros programmed for my common actions. Multiple screens mean I can have Teams shortcuts, common text shortcuts, emails, and shortcuts for my ERP system programmed up so most of my actions are only a button press away.
The next is a Xencelabs quick keys that I have programmed to handle macros within Outlook. It also works on other apps but I haven’t programmed it up yet. The dial makes it easy to scroll through lists and long strings of emails. Having a dedicated delete button makes things nice as well.
What’s next to make myself more efficient? Voice dictation and OCR (optical character recognition) to speed things up. Speaking is faster than typing. OCR from the desk means I can scan something and then be able to search for it later.
Enough for now, gotta work!
